Load More Ajax — User Guide
A friendly, step-by-step guide to setting up and using Load More Ajax – Infinite Scroll & Pagination on your WordPress site. No coding required.
What This Plugin Does
Load More Ajax replaces WordPress’s default page-reloading pagination with smooth, modern content loading. Your visitors get more posts, pages, WooCommerce products, or custom content without the page ever refreshing — using a Load More button or automatic infinite scroll, just like social media feeds.
Benefits:
- Faster, uninterrupted browsing
- Higher engagement and lower bounce rate
- Works with any public post type (Posts, Pages, WooCommerce Products, Portfolios, etc.)
- SEO-friendly — it doesn’t disturb your site’s structure
- Lightweight and fast
Installation
Option 1 — From the WordPress Dashboard
- Go to Plugins → Add New.
- Search for Load More Ajax Lite.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
Option 2 — Manual Upload
- Download the plugin
.zipfile. - Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the
.zipfile and click Install Now. - Click Activate.
After activating, you’ll see a new Load More Ajax menu (with an hourglass icon) in your admin sidebar.
Quick Start (The Easy Way)
The fastest way to add a post grid to any page is the Block Builder.
- Go to Load More Ajax → Add New.
- Give your block a title (for your own reference).
- Pick a Post Type — Post, Page, Product, or any custom type on your site.
- Choose a Taxonomy to filter by (Category, Tag, Product Category, etc.).
- Pick a Layout (see Layouts below).
- Set your columns, posts per page, and text/title limits.
- Choose which categories/terms to include or exclude (checkboxes with post counts).
- Watch the live preview update as you go.
- Save, then copy the generated shortcode.
- Paste the shortcode into any page, post, or widget.
That’s it — your dynamic post block is live.
The Five Layouts
| # | Layout | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Classic Grid | Blogs, standard post listings |
| 2 | List View | News sites, article lists (horizontal rows) |
| 3 | Modern Card | Featured content with hover effects |
| 4 | Masonry | Pinterest-style staggered grids, portfolios |
| 5 | Carousel | Sliders for featured or related content |
- Masonry automatically re-arranges itself smoothly when visitors filter or load more.
- Carousel is a swipeable slider with navigation arrows, pagination dots, and optional autoplay.
Using the Shortcode
If you prefer to write it yourself, use the shortcode in any page, post, or text widget.
Simplest form (shows your latest posts):
load_more_ajax_lite
Full example:
"[ load_more_ajax_lite post_type="post" taxonomy="category" posts_per_page="6" filter="true" include="" exclude="" text_limit="10" title_limit="30" style="1" column="3" ]"
Shortcode Options
| Option | What It Does | Default |
|---|---|---|
post_type | Which content to show (post, page, product, etc.) | post |
taxonomy | What to filter by | auto-detected |
posts_per_page | How many items load at a time | 6 |
filter | Show the category filter bar (true/false) | true |
include | Show only these term IDs (e.g. 1,3,5) | — |
exclude | Hide these term IDs | — |
text_limit | Excerpt length, in words | 10 |
title_limit | Title length, in characters | 30 |
style | Layout: 1 Grid, 2 List, 3 Card, 4 Masonry, 5 Carousel | 1 |
column | Grid columns: 2, 3, or 4 | 3 |
Carousel-Only Options
Use these when style="5":
| Option | What It Does | Default |
|---|---|---|
slides_per_view | Slides visible at once (1–4) | 3 |
show_arrows | Show navigation arrows | true |
show_dots | Show pagination dots | true |
autoplay | Auto-advance slides | true |
Common recipes:
Show only categories 1, 3, and 5 in a 4-column grid:
[ load_more_ajax_lite include="1,3,5" column="4"]
Show WooCommerce products in a card layout:
[ load_more_ajax_lite post_type="product" style="3"]
An autoplaying carousel of 4 posts at a time, no dots:
[ load_more_ajax_lite style="5" slides_per_view="4" show_dots="false"]
Using the Elementor Widget
If you build with Elementor, you get a dedicated widget with visual controls.
- Edit a page with Elementor.
- Search the widget panel for LMA Blog Post and drag it onto your page.
- Content tab — choose your layout, post type, taxonomy, specific terms, columns, posts per page, order, and (for carousels) slider options.
- Style tab — customize card backgrounds, title colors, and meta colors. For carousels, you also get full control over arrows (size, icon size, border radius, colors, hover states) and dots (size, active width, spacing, border radius, colors).
Everything updates live in the Elementor preview.
Category Filtering
Most layouts include an AJAX filter bar at the top. Visitors click a category to instantly filter the results — again, with no page reload.
- Turn the bar off with
filter="false". - Limit which categories appear using
include/exclude. - Filters work with any taxonomy, not just the default category (e.g. Product Categories, Tags, custom taxonomies).
Settings
Go to Load More Ajax → Settings to tune performance and behavior site-wide.
Performance
- Cache Duration — how long results are cached (default 300 seconds / 5 minutes). Longer = faster, but content updates appear less immediately.
- Enable Modern JavaScript — uses faster, modern code for capable browsers.
- Rate Limit — maximum requests per minute per visitor, to prevent abuse.
UI / UX
- Animation Duration — how long the load-in animation takes (in milliseconds).
- Scroll Threshold — how close to the bottom of the page infinite scroll triggers (in pixels).
Developer
- Enable Debug Mode — turns on detailed logging for troubleshooting.
Cache Statistics (sidebar) — shows how many cache entries exist and their size, plus a Clear Cache button. Clear the cache if your content changes aren’t showing up right away.
Accessibility
Version 2.2 makes the plugin friendly for keyboard and screen-reader users out of the box:
- Filter items are real buttons with clear keyboard focus outlines.
- The active filter and the Load More button announce their state to assistive technology.
- A live status region announces “New posts loaded” when content finishes loading.
No configuration needed — it just works.
Translations
All interface text (like “Load More” and “New posts loaded”) is translation-ready. Translators can use the included .pot template, and multilingual plugins will pick up the strings automatically.

Troubleshooting
New posts or content changes aren’t showing up.
Go to Load More Ajax → Settings and click Clear Cache. Lowering the Cache Duration also helps during active editing.
The Load More button or filter isn’t working.
- Make sure the plugin is activated.
- Check that your theme isn’t blocking JavaScript.
- Try enabling Modern JavaScript in Settings (or disabling it if your visitors use older browsers).
Nothing appears at all.
- Confirm the
post_typeyou chose actually has published content. - Check that any
include/excludeterm IDs are correct.
Still stuck? Enable Debug Mode in Settings and check your site’s logs, or reach out to support below.
